Auburn Gymnastics Academy has been proudly providing high quality gymnastics instruction to the Auburn/ Opelika area since 2000. What differentiates us from other gyms is our ability to truly connect with our customers and provide the exceptional, compassionate service they deserve. Our Staff is 100% Safe Sport and USA Gymnastics Recreational Coach Certified. Meaning that our staff has taken multiple education courses to ensure that we provide the best quality gymnastics instruction while keeping a safe environment. These courses include but are not limited to several coaching clinics hosted by AGA, US Center Safe Sport, USA Gymnastics Safe Sport, Tough Coaching or Emotional Abuse Education, Concussion Education & a complete Background Check. Our Competitive Coaches have also completed Fundamentals of Gymnastics, Safety and Risk Management, and attend 1-2 outside educational training courses each year. Rest assured that we have the best trained staff in the Auburn/ Opelika area as we prioritize a fun, yet safe environment while also teaching correct gymnastics fundamentals and technique.

Christie Leigh McHugh

Chief Operations Officer, Head HUGS & Team Bar Coach

Hometown: Auburn, AL

Education: Graduate from Auburn University with a B.S. in Exercise Science ’08 and M.Ed. in Biomechanics ’10.

Bio:

Christie Leigh has been a part of Auburn Gymnastics Academy since 2007, beginning her career as a coach. She was named Class Director and Office Manager in 2011 and was promoted to Program Director in 2021, where she now oversees program development, staff training, and daily operations.

Christie Leigh trained and competed at Gwinnett Gymnastics Center for 10 years, earning numerous Georgia State titles throughout her competitive career. Her passion for the sport extends beyond the gym, as she is committed to fostering positive experiences and growth for athletes of all levels.

In addition to her work at AGA, Christie Leigh serves as an advisor for a sorority at Auburn University and enjoys spending time with her husband, Davis, and Bull Terrier, Zambezi. She also serves on the USA Gymnastics Alabama State Board as the HUGS Coordinator, where she advocates for adaptive and inclusive gymnastics opportunities for athletes of all abilities.

Roya Adkins

Chief Marketing Officer, Team Floor Coach

Hometown: Vidalia, GA

Education: Graduate from Auburn University with a BS in Business Administration with a focus on Management and Entrepreneurship and Family Business '23. She is pursing a Masters of Business.

Bio:

Roya has been a member of the Auburn Gymnastics Academy team since 2021, coaching primarily within our advanced recreational program and Team AGA. In 2024, she was promoted to Assistant Director, where she plays a key role in supporting daily operations, staff development, and athlete success. She also serves as AGA’s Director of Marketing, overseeing communication and outreach efforts for the program.

Roya trained and competed at Vidalia Gymnastics Center for eight years, developing a strong foundation in the sport that she now brings to her coaching. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, Bella and Honey.
